Job description

Truth Coffee Roasting on Buitenkant Street, consistently ranked among the world's best coffee shops, is looking for a skilled barista to join our front bar team. Truth is a steampunk-inspired specialty coffee destination that takes coffee as seriously as any fine-dining kitchen. We roast our own single-origin coffees and train every barista from the ground up. The role: • Espresso bar service during morning peak and throughout the day • Dialling in grinders and maintaining machine calibration • Pourovers, filter brewing, and cold brew service • Basic latte art required; advanced technique a strong advantage • Coffee consultations with wholesale clients Requirements: • Minimum 1 year specialty coffee experience • Barista Guild or SCASA training advantageous • Passion for origin, extraction, and flavour • Available early mornings from 7am Truth actively enters the SA Barista Championships, we support staff who want to compete.

Pros: The coffee knowledge you gain here is truly world-class. The steampunk environment is extraordinary. Colleagues are genuinely the best baristas in SA. The specialty coffee fundamentals you build at Truth open every coffee door globally.

Pay is not commensurate with the skill and global reputation. Peak tourist periods mean relentless queues. The hype attracts customers who don't always understand specialty coffee.
